Does Everyone Need Faith?

2

Faith is misunderstood.  We want to look at the role faith plays in the lives of everyone – including atheists.  Faith is present in science and medicine as both are always dealing with the unknown at times.  We will listen to sound-bytes from some of our famous atheist friends like Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens “beating up” on Christian faith and offering their alternatives but will also add sound-bytes of simple expressions of faith in action.  We want to clearly define what faith really is and how the human mind is wired for it.

Its true meaning is practically forgotten these days.  Why, with all of the fun costumes and excitement of Halloween just a few weeks in the past and with all of the gifts buying, decorations, songs movies and glitter of Christmas in just a few more weeks, This Holiday, almost by a perceived necessity has been reduced to a Thursday off where families get together to eat a lot, watch football and prepare for the biggest shopping day of the year on Friday.  This Holiday is Thanksgiving, a uniquely American Holiday, and it has already come and gone.  The question is, did Thanksgiving have an effect on you (besides overeating) that has the capacity to literally change your life?  Stay with us as we examine Thanksgiving and its true, life changing meaning…

Is NOW the Time for Divine Healing?

Sickness and death have always played a significant role in our world as two of the things we spend lots of time and money avoiding.  When Jesus was here on earth, he healed many of their diseases.  When the Apostles were here after Jesus, they also healed.  So, if we are Christians, are we supposed to be carrying the banner of healing as well?  Is the healing of disease a Christian responsibility today, or was it for a long ended time?  If we are NOT supposed to heal, then what changed?  If we are supposed to heal, then shouldn’t we be making news doing so?  Stay with us – this should be good!

A woman’s right to choose.  A woman’s right to privacy.  Lose your choice lose your freedom – a woman’s body is her most prized possession.  All of these slogans are centerpieces of the unending controversy surrounding abortion – a legal procedure.  But SHOULD it be legal and so accessible?  Are there reasons to doubt its place in our world, for the sake of the unborn AND the sake of the potential mothers?  Stay with us as we look into this VERY difficult subject and try and establish a biblical perspective on, rights, life and courage in the face of great challenge…

It’s election time in America!  This coming Tuesday many will stream to cast their ballots for whatever candidate they believe will do the best job in public office.  This exercise gives a voice to the common man.  Well, what about the election to the office of “sons of God”?  Who “votes” for that?  Has God, as some Christians believe, had that all in hand in a predestined fashion for all of the ages of time, or is there some level of choice involved in the matter, as other Christians believe? Stay with us this morning as we look into the election process for the highest office ever available to sinful man!

Everyone is focusing on elections and politics – except us!  We want to look at the calling and electing of God’s called out ones – how and why one is called – how and why one is elected.  Christianity has many views on this and we would like to hear them!  Does election depend on being a member of a certain church?  Does it depend on certain confessions?  Does it depend on money contributions?  Is it available to all Christians, and any non-Christians? What does the spirit do to elect?  What does it mean to have the spirit?  Has the spirit been poured out on all men as in Acts 2?

Boo!!  It’s that time of year when ghosts, goblins, skeletons witches and sorcerers overrun not only our neighborhoods but much of the TV and movie industry as well.  Soon they will all go back into hibernation until next year – all

except witches that is.  Witchcraft, particularly that practiced as Wicca is a particularly burgeoning part of our culture, growing especially among young people.  Should this be a problem?  After all, Wicca practices “white” witchcraft,

so it’s nothing to worry about – or is it?  Stay with us this morning as we look into Wicca – its origin, its practices its influence and of course, what the Bible says about such things…
